MANILA—Philippine Tennis could unveil a new foreign-based talent when it competes in the Indonesia Southeast Asian Games in November.
Twenty-two-year-old Dennis Lajola, who is based in Alea, Hawaii, and already a campaigner in ITF Futures, was named to the national pool by the Philippine Tennis Association for the biennial Games.
Ranked 930th in the world in singles and with a stint with the United States Davis Cup training team back in 2004, Lajola is counted upon to fill up the spot for Fil-German Marc Sieber, the Philippine Columbian Association singles champion who encountered difficulty obtaining his Filipino passport.
However, Philta said his inclusion in the team to Indonesia is still up for discussion with the board.
Also named to the pool are regulars Cecil Mamiit, Treat Huey, Johnny Arcilla, Patrick John Tierro, Elbert Anasta, Ruben Gonzales and rookie Jeson Patrombon.
The women’s pool is composed of veterans Denise Dy, Riza Zalameda sisters Anna Clarice and Anna Christine Patrimonio, and junior stalwarts Marinel Rudas, Tamitha Nguyen, Marian Capadocia and Maika Tanpoco.
